Steam punks not dead!
“Wahh Wahh Wahhabi Wahhhhhhhh!” ….as the shameful, muted trumpet declares the arrival of the Buster Brown’s of cosplay!!!! Thats like wearing your church clothes on Halloween and telling everyone you are Jack Bauer from 24!! Just go as squall or sephiroth! OOHH! or an obscure one-liner from City of the Lost Children! You know you want to! Hehh…..JUST KIDDING! Don’t get STEAMED!!! ….get it!?..Steamed…SteamPunk…. Anyways—>
The scope of creativity captured within the genre is stunning and continues to grow. Basically concisting of refining found objects to look as if they were from a different time, place, planet, etc.. As with most hobbies, they require a certain level of dedication….. I am guessing that’s why they are dressed like that outside comicon!…… But to their credit, some of the most original (re)creations come out of this sub sect of cosplay…ehmmm crafting.
It has been around for a while, which get to my point: Why has SteamPunk recently become so popular? I am guessing the Internet is partly responsible for connecting people and further refining the genre, but it seems to exist outside of it’s parent franchise/influences…. If you are involved or know someone who is, let me know if there is something I am missing here….
